Our Story

Giant Screen Entertainment Limited (GSEL) entered the national cinema landscape with the island’s first and still largest digital screen and IMAX 3D technology at One Woodbrook Place – the IMAX Movie theatre opened in August 2011. This was the only theatre of its kind in the English speaking Caribbean.GSEL was co-founded by Brian Jahra (MSc, BSc) and Ingrid Jahra (eMBA. BSc. (Hons).

Fast forward five years later, the company rebranded itself as CinemaONE Limited, the movie exhibition company which offers not only the IMAX ® experience but various movie experiences as trending on the international markets. Its second movie experience is the country’s first dine-in Cineplex – Gemstone Cinemas. Expansion plans continued from 2018 with the additional of a 4DX auditorium, also located at One Woodbrook Place; and in 2022 Gemstone VIP Cinemas in Gulf City Mall the Company’s 2nd location. In September 2023, CinemaONE took the bold step to add a third location at Price Plaza, named CineCENTRAL to offer a mainstream, affordable movie experience. It proudly employs over 100 persons who love the movies.

CinemaONE is the first company to be listed on the SME tier of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange in 2018.
